Orlando, Fla. - The Wayne State women's tennis team (12-6) defeated the 19th-ranked Georgetown College from NAIA, 6-3, on Sunday. The Warriors won four of the six singles matches and two of the three doubles.
Victorious Warriors in singles play were Steph Nicolson (Bloomfield Hills, Mich./Andover) at #3, Dee Mays (Detroit, Mich./Utica) at #4, Meghan Luzod (Royal Oak, Mich./Dondero) at #5 and Stephanie Van Tuyl (Riverview, Mich./Gabriel Richard) at #6.
The doubles teams of Amanda Pressotto (Trenton, Mich./Trenton) and Colette Cabot (Fruitport, Mich./Fruitport) won at #2, while Luzod/Van Tuyl won at #3.
The Warriors could not seem to solve GC players Emily Kerrick and Sarah Yost. Kerrick defeated Pressotto in #1 singles, Kerrick was victorious over Cabot at #2 singles and the duo defeated Mays/Nicolson at #1 doubles.
