Detroit, Mich. - In a match that took over eight hours, the Wayne State women's tennis squad (16-6, 5-5 GLIAC) defeated Grand Valley State (18-6, 8-2 GLIAC), 5-4, Sunday at the WSU Tennis Courts. The win was the Warriors' 11 in a row.

The #1 and #2 singles matches went to three sets as Amanda Pressotto (Trenton, Mich./Trenton) was the match's deciding factor. She defeated Lindsay Grimmer 6-2, 4-6, 7-6 (10-8) to seal the victory for the Warriors. Jenna Killips won the other three-set match as she defeated Colette Cabot (Fruitport, Mich./Fruitport) 0-6, 6-2, 6-0.

The final three singles matches belonged to Wayne State as Dee Mays (Detroit, Mich./Utica) won at #4, Meghan Luzod (Royal Oak, Mich./Dondero) won at #5 and Stephanie Van Tuyl (Riverview, Mich./Gabriel Richard) won at #6.

Grand Valley took two of three doubles matches as the Warriors' #1 duo of Steph Nicolson (Bloomfield Hills, Mich./Andover) and Dee Mays (Detroit, Mich./Utica) defeated Lindsay Grimmer and Emily Zellner.

The last time the Warriors defeated the Lakers was nearly one year ago to the day as WSU was victorious, 7-2, on March 26, 2006, in Allendale.

Wayne State will play West Liberty State in Dayton, Ohio, on March 30 at 6 p.m.
