Institute, W.Va. - Wayne State won its second straight match in as many days as it defeated host West Virginia State 7-2 on the second day of the West Virginia State Tournament. WSU improved to 2-0 on the young season, while the Yellowjackets dropped to 0-2.

The Warriors won five of six singles matches and two of three doubles, including two hard-fought victories in number three and number six singles. Senior Steph Nicolson (Bloomfield Hills, Mich./Andover) lost the first set to her opponent, 2-6, before storming back and taking the next two sets, 6-2 and 10-3. Freshman Meghan Luzod (Royal Oak, Mich./Dondero) never trailed in her three-set match, winning the first set, 6-0 before losing 4-6, but winning the decisive third set, 10-4.

About the only thing that went right for West Virginia State during the match was the work of junior Jana Deylova (Prague, Czech Republic), who defeated senior Amanda Pressotto in number one singles, 6-0, 1-6 and also won with partner Cotter in doubles play to defeat the team of senior Dee Mays (Detroit, Mich./Utica) and Pressotto, 8-2.

The Warriors will play NAIA school Indiana University Southeast, who is ranked #25 in the country, at 3:00pm.
