Institute, W.Va. - The Wayne State women's tennis team won its third straight match to open the season by defeating #25 Indiana University Southeast, 7-2 on the final day of the West Virginia State Tournament.
The Warriors won won five of six singles matches and two of three doubles.
The closest match was at number three singles, as senior Steph Nicolson (Bloomfield Hills, Mich./Andover) defeated junior Jessica Pfeiffer 6-0, 2-6, 10-7 for her third victory and second straight that went to three sets.
WSU will now rest until Friday, September 8, when it travels to Lake Superior State for a 2:00 p.m. start. It will be the first GLIAC contest for the Warriors.
