Sault Ste. Marie, Mich. - Lake Superior State defeated Wayne State in women's tennis action, 6-3, snapping the Warriors' three-game winning streak. It was also the first conference game for both squads. Lake Superior State improved to 1-0, while Wayne State dropped to 3-1.

Reigning GLIAC Player of the Week Colette Cabot (Fruitport, Mich./Fruitport) lost a tough three-set match to Megan La Motha, 6-3, 2-6, 2-6 to drop to 3-1 on the season.

The Warriors won only two singles matches - senior Dee Mays (Detroit, Mich./Utica) and senior Stephanie Van Tuyl (Riverview, Mich./Gabriel Richard). The number one doubles team of seniors Amanda Pressotto and Cabot won the only doubles match for WSU.

Wayne State will continue its trip up north when it takes on Michigan Tech Saturday, September 9, at 10 a.m.
