Wayne State hosted Tiffin University on Saturday in the Warriors' second conference match of the week. It was a one-sided effort, as Wayne State women's tennis swept the Dragons, 9-0. The Warrior women lost at home to Ashland, 6-3, on Friday, and are now 1-1 in the conference and 2-1 overall.

Wayne State was forced, by rainy weather, to move the match to the Eastside Tennis Club to take advantage of indoor facilities. Sharon Gill (Windsor, Ont./ Academie Ste. Cecile), won her third straight singles match of the season and continued her singles winning streak to 14 matches. She defeated Teauana Long, 6-0, 6-2 in the first flight. Milena Vuksanovic (Pancevo, Serbia/ Uros Predic Secondary School), was victorious in No. 2 singles, defeating Ashley Hershner in straight sets, 6-1, 6-1. Meghan Luzod (Royal Oak, Mich./ Dondero), recorded her first win of the season defeating Taylor Cooper 6-0, 6-3, in the third flight. In the battle of No. 4 singles, Deby Correa (Belo Horizonte, Brazil/ Colegio Padre Eustaquio), defeated Jessica Stefanov 6-2, 6-3. Jennifer Bradford (Detroit/ Mumford), def. Beth Clark in straight sets 6-3, 6-1, in No. 5 singles. Sargam Bhatt (Canton, Mich./ Taylor Truman), did not allow her opponent to win a single game. She won 6-0, 6-0, defeating Melissa Poe.

The Warriors also went unbeaten in doubles. The dynamic No.1 doubles duo of Gill and Vuksanovic, def. Long and Steffanov, 8-2. Luzod and Medha Jha (Troy, Mich./ Troy), def. Hershner and Taylor, 8-5, in No. 2 doubles. Posting a win at the third flight of doubles was Correa and Bhatt who defeated Clark and Bailey 8-3.

Wayne State women's tennis is on the road this week (September 19-20). They will be playing in the ITA Midwest Regional Championships, hosted by Northwood University, in Midland, Mich.
