Saginaw, Mich. - After having close to two weeks off, the Wayne State women's tennis team continued conference play by defeating Saginaw Valley State 9-0 Friday afternoon. The win marked the first for Wayne State in GLIAC play out of three tries, and 4-2 overall, while the Cardinals dropped to 3-3 overall and 2-3 in the conference.
The closest match came in #1 singles, when senior Amanda Pressotto (Trenton, Mich./Trenton) came back from losing the first set 4-6 to take the next two 6-2, 10-8 against Katie Hanover.
Senior Dee Mays (Detroit, Mich./Utica) defeated Maria Perez-Valencial in straight sets 6-3, 6-3 to up her record to 7-1.
The Warriors will entertain conference-rival Findlay on Tuesday, September 26 at 3:00 p.m. It will be the home opener for WSU and is the first of three-straight home matches this week.
