DETROIT, Mich. - The Wayne State women's tennis team was defeated by Lake Superior State 7-2 on Friday evening in the Warriors' first home GLIAC match of the season.

The Lakers swept the doubles matches and took four out of six singles matches from the Warriors.  Wayne State did manage to take the top two singles matches, however, as junior Steph Nicolson (Bloomfield Hills, Mich./Andover) defeated Celina Grondin 2-6, 6-3, 6-4 in the No. 1 singles match, and redshirt junior Dee Mays (Detroit, Mich./Utica) defeated Sophie Bedard 6-1, 6-1 in No. 2 singles.

Mays improved to 3-1 overall in dual match play this season, while Nicolson evens her record at 2-2.

The Warriors will continue their four-match homestand on Saturday, Sept. 24, as Michigan Tech comes to town for a 10:00 a.m. contest.
