St. Clair Shores, Mich. - The Wayne State University women's tennis squad improved to 6-2 overall and 3-2 in the GLIAC with a 6-3 triumph Friday afternoon over Mercyhurst College at Wimbledon Racquet Club in St. Clair Shores.
The Warriors led 2-1 after claiming doubles victories at the top two slots. Steph Nicolson (Bloomfield Hills, Mich./Andover) and Dee Mays (Detroit, Mich./Utica) combined for an 8-4 win at first doubles, while Amanda Pressotto (Trenton, Mich.) and Colette Cabot (Fruitport, Mich.) were 8-3 victors at second doubles.
WSU won the first four singles slots to claim the league win.
Pressotto won in straight sets at No. 1, while Cabot was a three-set winner at No. 2. Nicolson won in three sets at No. 3, while Mays was a straight set victor at No. 4.
Wayne State entertains Ashland tomorrow.
