DETROIT - Wayne State women's tennis recorded its second 5-4 GLIAC win in three matches as the Warriors (3-4, 3-4 GLIAC) defeated visiting Saginaw Valley State (1-3, 1-3 GLIAC) on Saturday afternoon in a marathon meet that lasted four hours, 40 minutes in Detroit.

WSU held a 2-1 lead after doubles action thanks to wins by No. 1 by Dee Mays (Detroit, Mich./Utica) and Steph Nicolson (Bloomfield Hills, Mich./Andover) and the No. 2 tandem of Amanda Pressotto (Trenton, Mich.) and Whitney Dillon (Portage, Mich./Central).

Mays and Nicolson each won their singles matches, but the 'Cards captured victories in No. 4 through 6 singles action to tie the match at four. That set the stage for No. 3 singles where, after suffering a 6-2 loss in the first game, Pressotto came back to win the next two games 6-2, 6-3, for the team victory.

WSU travels to Ashland next Saturday, Oct. 8.
