Midland, Mich. - Northwood University defeated visiting Wayne State, 9-0, in women's tennis conference play Tuesday afternoon. The Timberwolves, 6-0 overall and in the GLIAC, has now won 38 straight GLIAC matches, dating back to 2002. Wayne State dropped to 7-3 and 4-3, respectively. It was the Warriors' first loss in five matches since the ITA Regionals in mid-September.

All six Warriors lost in straight sets, but senior Dee Mays (Detroit, Mich./Utica) lost a tough 7-6, 7-5 match to Julia Goncalves in No. 4 singles.

Wayne State will take a week off as it will host GLIAC-rivals Ferris State on Friday, October 21, and Grand Valley State the next day. The matches are at 3:00 p.m. and 10:00 a.m., respectively.
