MIDLAND, Mich. - The sixth-seeded Wayne State women's tennis team lost its first-round match to Grand Valley State, 5-0, in the opening round of the GLIAC Tournament in Midland on Friday.
The third-seeded Lakers defeated the Warriors in five singles matches, prompting play to end without any doubles action. Grand Valley will advance to play second-seeded Ferris State in the next round.
Wayne State will play #7-Michigan Tech in the semifinals of the fifth-place bracket later this afternoon. The Warriors came away with a 5-4 victory over the Huskies in regular-season play on Sept. 24.
