Midland, Mich. - Wayne State finished in fifth place at the GLIAC Championships as the Warriors defeated Saginaw Valley State 5-1 Saturday morning.

Wayne State won three of six singles matches as the #1, 3, and 5 matches were unfinished. The Warriors won two of three doubles matches.

Winning for the Warriors were senior Colette Cabot (Fruitport, Mich./Fruitport), a 6-0, 6-2 winner over Maggie Dodson in #2 singles, senior Dee Mays (Detroit, Mich./Utica), a 6-4, 6-3 winner over Maria Perez-Valencia in #4 singles, and senior Stephanie Van Tuyl (Riverview, Mich./Gabriel Richard), a 6-1, 6-0 winner over Jaymee Geneseo in #6 singles.

The teams of Cabot/ Amanda Pressotto (Trenton, Mich./Trenton) and Meghan Luzod (Royal Oak, Mich./Dondero)/ Sargam Bhatt (Canton, Mich./Taylor Truman) were victorious in #2 and #3 doubles, respectively.

The fall season is over for the Warriors, who finished the season 9-6 overall and 4-5 in the GLIAC.
