Two Warriors Earn Academic All-District Accolades

 
 

 
Erika Barczak was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District First Team.

Wayne State University junior diver Erika Barczak (Williamston, Mich.) has been selected to the 2006-07 ESPN The Magazine/CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America) Academic All-District IV College Division Women's At-Large First Team.

Senior tennis player Amanda Pressotto (Trenton, Mich.) was voted to the CoSIDA Academic All-District Second Team.

The College Division includes NCAA Division II and III, plus NAIA institutions while District IV includes schools located in Michigan, Ohio, Kentucky, Tennessee and Alabama.

The At-Large team represents athletes from the following women's sports: bowling, crew, fencing, field hockey, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, swimming, tennis, and water polo.

Barczak will now appear on the Academic All-American national ballot for her first team selection. She won both the one-meter (377.10) and three-meter (447.75) diving competitions at the GLIAC Championships and earned Honorable Mention All-America accolades after finishing 14th in the one-meter diving at the NCAA Championship. Erika has been named to the Athletic Director's Honor Roll (term gpa 3.5+) all five semesters including three 4.00 terms.

Pressotto is a three-time GLIAC All-Academic team selection and was named to the GLIAC First Team in 2006-07 after earning Honorable Mention All-GLIAC accolades as a sophomore and junior. This year she compiled a 16-9 mark at first singles in leading the Warriors to their third consecutive NCAA tournament appearance. Amanda also had a 21-6 mark in doubles competition.
