Detroit, Mich. - The Wayne State University women's tennis team is looking for more success after finishing the 2005-06 season at 13-10, which included a 5-6 record in the always-difficult Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC), and its second-straight trip to the NCAAs.

Head coach Sheila Snyder is looking for senior leadership this season. This year's squad features five seniors and one junior. The team is fresh with experience and Snyder hopes the upperclassmen can lead the younger players - sophomore Sargam Bhatt (Canton, Mich./Taylor Truman) and freshman Meghan Luzod (Royal Oak, Mich./Dondero) - to victory.

Leading WSU this season is senior co-captain Dee Mays (Detroit, Mich./Utica). Mays notched All-GLIAC Second Team honors after posting a 15-6 singles mark, including an impressive 8-3 record against GLIAC opponents. Snyder hopes Mays' winning streak continues, as she finished 9-1 in her last ten matches a season ago. Also poised to take charge this season is senior co-captain Amanda Pressotto (Trenton, Mich./Trenton), who earned All-GLIAC Honorable Mention honors after finishing last season 13-13, but had a respectable 6-3 record in GLIAC play.

The Warriors start the season at the West Virginia State Tournament on Friday and Saturday, September 1-2 in Institute, W.Va. WSU will play Kentucky Wesleyan at 5:00 p.m. Friday, while playing a double header Saturday against the host school at 8:30 a.m. and Indiana University Southeast at 2:30 p.m.
