DETROIT - The Wayne State University women's tennis team finished the fall season in a three-way tie for fourth place in the GLIAC with a 5-4 record. The Warriors compiled an overall mark of 7-4, a winning percentage of .636.

This Saturday and Sunday the GLIAC tournament will be played at the Midland Community Tennis Center indoor facility, where the top eight teams will compete for the conference championship.

The first-round matches will begin at noon on Saturday, Oct. 25. Wayne State has drawn the No. 4 seed and will take on No. 5 seed Michigan Tech.

The Warriors were defeated 6-3 by the Huskies earlier this month. Sharon Gill (Windsor, Ontario/Academie Ste. Cecile) has not lost since suffering a defeat by Victoria Zhilkina in three sets, 6-7 (3-7), 6-3, 4-6, during that match.

Team captains and doubles partners, Meghan Luzod (Royal Oak, Mich./Dondero) and Sargam Bhatt (Canton, Mich./Taylor Truman), have won three of their last four matches beginning with an 8-3 victory at Michigan Tech.

Second round action will also be played on Saturday, before concluding tournament play on Sunday.
