DETROIT - Wayne State women's tennis players Sharon Gill (Windsor, Ontario/Academie Ste. Cecile), Kristina Goranskaya (Thornhill, Ontario/Northview Heights Secondary School) and Jennifer Bradford (Detroit/Mumford) were named to All-GLIAC teams this week.
No. 1 singles standout Sharon Gill received First-Team All-GLIAC honors. As a sophomore, she holds the WSU active singles wins record, and is currently ranked sixth all-time in singles wins (34). Her winning percentage of .810 is the career singles record. Gill's overall record this year in singles is 14-4. In first doubles with Milena Vuksanovic (Pancevo, Serbia/ Uros Predic Secondary School)the duo posted a record of 12-4.
Kristina Goranskaya earned Second-Team All-GLIAC honors. Despite missing the first few matches, the freshmen was able to make an immediate impact. In her first appearance this season, the ITA Great Lakes Invitational, she recorded tree wins before losing to the No. 1 seed. She finished the season with an 11-3 overall record at No. 2 singles, and 8-6 mark in No. 2 doubles.
Jennifer Bradford is another shining sophomore. Bradford garnered All-GLIAC honorable mention honors after a dominating fall season. She recorded an 11-3 overall mark in singles, 3-0 at No. 5 singles, with an 8-2 record in dual matches at No. 6 singles. Her achievements include posting a double-bagel in GLIAC competition.
