WSU's Amanda Pressotto Named to GLIAC First Team; Mays and Nicolson Given Second Team Accolades

Bay City, Mich. - Three members of the Wayne State women's tennis team was honored with post-season awards. Senior Amanda Pressotto (Trenton, Mich./Trenton) was honored with First Team All-GLIAC accolades, while senior Dee Mays (Detroit, Mich./Utica) and senior Steph Nicolson (Bloomfield Hills, Mich./Andover) were named to the Second Team All-GLIAC.

It is a first such honor for Pressotto, who had been named to the Honorable Mention team the past two seasons. Pressotto amassed a 9-7 overall record, including a 5-4 mark in GLIAC play in number one singles. She was 0-1 in the GLIAC Tournament, with two unfinished matches. She, along with senior Colette Cabot (Fruitport, Mich./Fruitport) recorded an impressive 11-5 overall doubles record, including a 6-3 GLIAC record, mainly in number two doubles. The team had a 7-3 record in its final 10 matches, including going 2-1 in the GLIAC Tournament.

Dee Mays

The Second Team honor is the second such for Mays, who received the honor last season. She had an impressive 11-2 overall record and a 6-1 mark in conference play, mainly in number four singles. She defeated all but two of her opponents in straight sets. She went 3-0 in the GLIAC Tournament. The team of Mays and Nicolson went 3-9 overall and 2-3 in the GLIAC in number one doubles. The duo struggled in the GLIAC Tournament, going 0-3.

Steph Nicolson

For Nicolson, third time's the charm as she had been named to the Second Team last season and in 2003 as a freshman. She compiled a 9-5 singles mark, including a 5-2 record in GLIAC play in number three singles. She went 1-2 in the GLIAC Tournament. Along with being partnered with Mays, she went 2-0 with senior Stephanie Van Tuyl (Riverview, Mich./Gabriel Richard).
