PENSACOLA, Fla. - The Warrior volleyball team (1-1) picked up its first win under Ernie Gilbert with a 3-0 (30-13, 30-25, 30- 28) victory over West Alabama (0-3) at the West Florida Comfort Inn-vitational in Pensacola, Fla., Friday night. Redshirt junior Elisa Joris (Walled Lake, Mich./GVSU) had a career-high 15 kills and a match-high .462 hitting percentage. Joris was also a force in the middle of the net, adding five block solos and seven block assists on the night. Also having a career match was senior Leslie Coxon (Mason, Mich./Minn. State) with 19 digs. Junior Sei Hee Hwang (Toronto, Ont./Cedarbrae) had nine kills and nine digs as redshirt sophomore Kristi Pieper (Roseville, Mich./Fraser) added nine digs herself. Junior setter Kerri Royer (Lawton, Mich./Kal. Valley C.C.) had a match-high 37 assists to go along with her seven digs and four kills. Wayne State hit .258 while UWA had a hitting percentage of just .090. The Warriors also out-blocked West Alabama 12-3. WSU has two more matches in Florida, against Montevallo and Mesa State on Saturday.
