GOLDEN, Colo. - The WSU volleyball team finished its competition at the Clash in the Foothills tournament with a 3-0 loss to Montana State-Billings on Saturday (Aug. 30) in Golden, Colorado. The game scores were 30-15, 30-28 and 30-18. Both teams finished the tournament with a 2-2 record.

Wayne State couldn't revive after its game one hitting woes. The Yellowjackets out-hit WSU, .389 (19-5-36) to -.073 (5-8-41), which set the tone for the remainder of the match.

The Warriors manage to have a match hitting percentage of .075. Sophomore Kelita Sinclair (Caledon, Ont./Turner Fenton) hit .316 with seven kills. Junior Toni Purgatori (Yale, Mich./Lake-Sumter C.C) and sophomore Megan Smolen (Grosse Ile, Mich.) tied for team-high honors with eight kills each.

For the fourth straight match, senior co-captain BreAnne Detrick (Lambertville, Mich./Owens C.C.) recorded double-digits in digs with a team-high 13. She averaged 18.25 digs per match during the Clash. Smolen and Sei Hee Hwang (Toronto, Ont./Cedarbrae) added in 10 digs apiece.

The Warriors continue tournament action Friday, Sept. 5 at the Grand Valley State tournament against Wheeling Jesuit University.
