FINDLAY, Ohio - The Wayne State volleyball team (0-5) suffered a pair of 3-0 losses on Saturday to close out its participation in the TownePlace Suites Classic at the University of Findlay.
"We played much better today, but we just didn't get the results we wanted," said head coach Ernie Gilbert.
The Warriors dropped their 11:00 a.m. match to Lock Haven (30-25, 30-27, 30-24), as the Lady Eagles improved to 4-2 on the season.
Miranda Robison (Coldwater, Mich.) racked up 14 kills and a match-high three service aces, while Karri Kuczajda (Waterford, Mich./Chelsea) contributed seven kills with just two errors for a team-high .312 attack percentage.
Wayne State went on to face Edinboro at 1:00 p.m., as both schools were challenged with back-to-back matches. The Fighting Scots swept the match from the Warriors by scores of 30-20, 30-28, and 30-28.
Kayla Clysdale (Kalamazoo, Mich./Central) had an errorless game with seven kills, leading WSU with a .545 attack percentage. Robison posted 12 kills and seven digs, while senior Kristi Pieper (Roseville, Mich./Fraser) led the defense with eight digs.
Wayne State will play its first GLIAC match of the season as it travels to Hillsdale on Tuesday.
"Now that we're entering conference play," said Gilbert, "we can focus a little more urgently on the things we need to improve."
