CHARLESTON, W.Va. - Wayne State won its sixth straight match to start the 2005 season with a 3-0 sweep of Shepherd Friday night at the Capital City Classic in Charleston, W.Va. The Warriors won 30-27, 30-25 and 30-19.

Junior newcomer Holly Soldenski (Warren, Mich.) had her best showing as a Warrior with seven kills in 16 attempts and no errors. She also had three digs in the match.

Senior Elisa Joris (Walled Lake, Mich.) continued her early-season success with a team-high 17 kills and five service aces. Setter Kerri Royer (Lawton, Mich.) totaled 32 assists, while Michelle Bittner had 16 digs to lead WSU.

Wayne State begins Saturday action against Barton at 11:00 am.
