CHARLESTON, W.Va. - The Warrior volleyball squad won its fourth match of the season with a 3-1 victory over Mount Olive College at the Capital City Classic. The game scores were 30-21, 27-30, 30-26 and 32-30. Wayne State improves to 4-3 on the season.
WSU was led by redshirt junior Elisa Joris (Walled Lake, Mich./GVSU) who set a new career-high with 19 kills, including a streak where she had seven kills in seven straight points. Joris added a team-high five blocks.
Also having a career match was redshirt sophomore Kristi Pieper (Roseville, Mich./Fraser) who had 11 kills and 12 digs. Megan Smolen (Grosse Ile, Mich.) was one kill shy of another double-double; she had nine kills and a season-best 19 digs.
Setter Kerri Royer (Lawton, Mich./Kal. Valley C.C.) tallied 47 assists as libero Sei Hee Hwang (Toronto, Ont./Cedarbrae) totaled a team-high 25 digs.
The Warriors wrap up play at the tournament this afternoon against Lenoir-Rhyne College.
