DETROIT, Mich. - The Wayne State volleyball team (1-9, 1-4 GLIAC) was unable to sweep its first home weekend series, falling, 3-1, to Gannon on Parents Day at the Matthaei on Saturday afternoon.

Gannon led wire-to-wire in the first game, resulting in a 30-25 win for the Golden Knights.

Wayne State stormed back in game two, however, taking a 9-3 lead early on and, despite Gannon cutting the lead to one, went on to put the game away, 30-19.

Gannon took the next two games, which were closely contested as neither team led by more than five points in either, by a score of 30-25.

Freshman Meg Leone (Troy, Mich.) posted her first career double-double with 52 assists and 10 digs, while Kristen Buter (Muskegon, Mich./North Muskegon) earned her first of the season with 12 kills and 13 digs. Miranda Robison (Coldwater, Mich.) reached her fourth double-double of the season and second of the weekend with 21 kills and 21 digs.

Holly Soldenski (Warren, Mich./Warren Woods Tower) registered 11 kills, while Kristi Pieper (Roseville, Mich./Fraser) had a team-high 30 digs. Karri Kuczajda (Waterford, Mich./Chelsea) tallied eight kills and a team-high five blocks (one solo, four assists).

Conference play continues for the Warriors next weekend as they travel to Saginaw Valley State on Friday and Northwood on Saturday. Wayne State returns home for three matches, Sept. 28-30.
