ERIE, Pa. - The Warriors fell to the Mercyhurst Lakers in a tough five-game match 3-2 (30-19, 21-30, 25-30, 34-32, 15-10) Saturday afternoon (Sept. 20) in GLIAC volleyball action.

Wayne State was up 29-25 in the fourth game and just one point away from the match victory before Mercyhurst (11-5, 1-2 GLIAC) fought back for the 34-32 win to force the fifth and deciding game.

Sophomore Megan Smolen (Grosse Ile, Mich.) had her first career 20-20 with a career-high 23 kills and 20 digs. It marks the second straight match Smolen hit for 20-plus kills.

Classmate Sei Hee Hwang (Toronto, Ont./Cedarbrae) also had a career-best in kills (18) and tied her high mark in digs (22) for her fourth double-double this season.

Setter Rebecca Hague (Leamington, Ont.) had 57 assists to go along with 18 digs, while senior libero BreAnne Detrick (Lambertville, Mich./Bedford) tallied a team-high 30 digs.

The Warriors (4-7, 0-3 GLIAC) travel to Midland, Michigan, for a league match-up with Northwood on Sept. 25 at 7:00 p.m.
