DETROIT, Mich. - The Wayne State volleyball team (1-14, 1-9 GLIAC) concluded its three-match homestand with a 3-0 loss to conference foe Michigan Tech on Saturday afternoon at the Matthaei.
The Huskies improved to 8-9 overall on the season (4-4 GLIAC), taking the match by scores of 30-22, 30-22, and 30-20.
After dropping the first game, the Warriors kept the second game to within a point until Tech pulled out to a 22-18 lead and took eight of the next 12 points to go up by a pair.
The Huskies led by at least four points for most of the third game to sweep the match.
Mary Leverentz (Three Rivers, Mich.) had six kills and a .308 attack percentage for Wayne State, and Michelle Bittner (Hamtramck, Mich./Regina) led the squad with 10 digs while Kristi Pieper (Roseville, Mich./Fraser) chipped in with six.
Jordan Peek (Birch Run, Mich./Frankenmuth) and Karri Kuczajda ( Waterford, Mich./Chelsea) each had four blocks (two solo, two assists) in the match.
The Warriors will head to the west side of the state for GLIAC matches against Grand Valley State on Friday and Ferris State on Saturday.
