FINDLAY, Ohio - WSU's volleyball team lost its second straight road match with a 3-0 (31-29, 30-12, 30-25) set-back at GLIAC South Division rival Findlay Friday night. Wayne State (8-7, 3-4 GLIAC) pushed the Oilers (13-4, 3-3 GLIAC) to 31-29 in the first game thanks to 17 team kills, but managed just 17 in the final two games as UF swept the Warriors.
Junior middle blocker Kelita Sinclair (Caledon, Ont./Turner Fenton) recorded team-high a .444 hitting percentage with four kills as junior outside hitter Megan Smolen (Grosse Ile, Mich.) led the Warriors with nine kills. It marks the first time in five matches Smolen was held under 10 kills.
Middle blocker Elisa Joris (Walled Lake, Mich./Western) added eight kills as libero Sei Hee Hwang (Toronto, Ont./Cedarbrae) tallied a match-best 18 digs on the night.
The Warriors return to Detroit for three matches next weekend against Northern Michigan (Oct. 8), Lake Superior (Oct. 9) and Michigan Tech (Oct. 10).
