DETROIT - The Warrior volleyball team dropped its third consecutive GLIAC match with a 3-0 (30-20, 30-18, 30-18) loss to No. 14 Northern Michigan Friday in Detroit. Wayne State's record falls to .500 at 8-8 overall and 3-5 in the league; NMU improves to 15-2, 7-2.
Redshirt junior Elisa Joris (Walled Lake, Mich./Western) totaled a team-best 10 kills, including four in the first and second game. Northern had three hitters in double digits kills led by Aimee Dewitte with 15.
Junior libero Sei Hee Hwang (Toronto, Ont./Cedarbrae) led all players with 17 digs as outside hitter Megan Smolen (Grosse Ile, Mich.) chipped in with 10. Smolen also had eight kills for WSU.
Warrior setter Kerri Royer (Lawton, Mich.) tallied 24 assists and had two of WSU's three service aces. Both squads put down six team blocks on the night.
WSU hosts Lake Superior State Saturday at 1 pm.
