SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. - A fierce comeback fell short as the WSU volleyball team fell at GLIAC foe Lake Superior State University, 3-2 (30-22, 31-29, 21-30, 24-30, 17-15), on Friday, Oct. 10, in the Bud Cooper Gymnasium.
Despite the loss a trio of Warriors broke or tied their career-highs. Sophomore middle blocker Kelita Sinclair (Caledon, Ont./Turner Fenton) set a new career-high with 14 kills.
Senior setter Rebecca Hague (Leamington, Ont.) tallied 61 assists on the night, equaling her same mark against the Lakers last season.
Sophomore Megan Smolen (Grosse Ile, Mich.) recorded 23 kills for the third time this season. The outside hitter also tied her school record with 80 attempts.
The Warriors continue their U.P. trip with a match-up at Michigan Tech on Saturday.
