BIG RAPIDS, Mich. - The Wayne State volleyball team (8-12, 3-9 GLIAC) was defeated 3-0 at Ferris State (16-7, 8-4 GLIAC) in a Saturday afternoon conference match at Ewigleben Arena.
The Bulldogs, who earned a 3-2 upset win over 10th-ranked Hillsdale on Friday night, swept the match by scores of 30-22, 30-21, and 30-28 for their fourth straight victory, three of which have been shutouts.
FSU led most of the way in the first game and, with the score tied at 10 in the second, took 16 of the next 21 points for a 26-15 lead, eventually winning 30-21.
In game three, after falling behind 16-4, the Warriors climbed back to tie the score at 28 before the home team could put it away.
Gina Zielonka (Sterling Hts., Mich.) was WSU's kill leader with six, while three players - Karri Kuczajda (Waterford, Mich.), Kim Gear (Watervliet, Mich.), and Meg Leone (Troy, Mich.) - had five apiece. Gear also contributed five blocks.
Mayssa Bazzi (Dearborn, Mich.) led the match with 18 digs.
Wayne State travels to Hillsdale on Friday, Oct. 19 before closing out its home schedule Oct. 26-27 against Gannon and Mercyhurst.
