BIG RAPIDS, Mich. - The WSU volleyball team had its two-match winning streak snapped with a 3-0 (30-26, 30-22, 30-24) loss at Ferris State Friday night. The Warriors drop to 10-9 overall and 5-6 in GLIAC play while FSU is now 16-5, 8-3.
Action was back-and-forth in game one, with 10 ties and five lead changes. WSU led, 23-20, but the Bulldogs finished the game on a 10-3 run for the win.
The Warriors battled closely in the second game, but FSU rattled off a similar 10-3 rally for the victory. Game three was much of the same with tight play until a late Bulldog run for the sweep.
WSU's Elisa Joris (Walled Lake, Mich./GVSU) led the team in kills with 10. She also recorded five of her match-high 10 block assists in the first game. Libero Sei Hee Hwang (Toronto, Ont./Cedarbrae) led all players with 17 digs as Megan Smolen (Grosse Ile, Mich.) chipped in with 14 and Kerri Royer (Lawton, Mich./KVCC) had 12 digs to go along with her 15 assists.
The Warriors continue their four-match road trip Saturday at Grand Valley State.
