ASHLAND, Ohio - The Wayne State volleyball team suffered its first road loss of the season with a 3-1 defeat at Ashland on Friday night. The Warriors lost 27-30, 30-16, 30-20 and 30-20 to fall to 13-7 overall and 5-7 in the GLIAC.
After taking game one, WSU struggled the final three games and didn't manage to hit over .143 for the rest of the match.
Elisa Joris (Walled Lake, Mich./Western) reached a career-high with 28 digs. She also totaled 12 kills and five blocks. Senior Megan Smolen (Grosse Ile, Mich.) added 14 kills and 14 digs on the night.
WSU was 12-0 on the road entering the match.
The Warrior travel to Findlay Saturday at 2:00 p.m.
