FINDLAY, Ohio - The Wayne State volleyball team (14-7, 6-7 GLIAC) recorded a 3-0 sweep of Findlay (17-8, 9-4 GLIAC) with game scores of 30-28, 30-28 and 30-28 on Saturday afternoon in GLIAC action to move into prime position of a spot in the conference tournament. It is WSU's first win over the Oilers since a 3-2 victory on September 23, 2000.
Senior Elisa Joris (Walled Lake, Mich./Western) had one of her best all-around performances of her career with a triple-double: 20 kills, 10 digs and 10 blocks. The conference leader in blocks had 1 block solo and nine block assists.
Senior setter Kerri Royer (Lawton, Mich./Kalamazoo Central) totaled 45 assists and four blocks. The Warriors out-blocked UF 15-7 and outhit the Oilers .183 to .092.
Other outstanding performances included Megan Smolen (Grosse Ile, Mich.) with 12 kills, six digs and four blocks and junior Kristi Pieper (Roseville, Mich./Fraser) with a team-high 18 digs.
Wayne State, who improved to 13-1 on the road this season, travels to Hillsdale on Friday, October 28.
