MIDLAND, Mich. - In a match between two teams tied for first in the GLIAC South Division, the Wayne State volleyball team (12-11, 5-7 GLIAC) was swept, 3-0, at Northwood (11-12, 6-6 GLIAC) on Friday evening.
The Timberwolves won by scores of 25-19, 25-17, and 25-21, in a match that lasted just one hour and 18 minutes.
Wayne State was led at the net by Lauren Mallast (Chesterfield, Mich./Anchor Bay), who finished with nine kills and five blocks. Sarha Gosselin (Harrison Twp., Mich./Warren Lincoln) contributed eight kills, Mayssa Bazzi (Dearborn, Mich.) had 10 digs, and Katy Westenberg (Milford, Mich.) chipped in 25 assists and five blocks.
The Warriors will close out their 2008 regular season home schedule with conference matches against Tiffin on Halloween and Ashland the following afternoon.
