DETROIT-- - First-year head coach Limin Jin and the Wayne State volleyball team opened its home schedule with a convincing 3-0 victory over University of Michigan-Dearborn Wednesday, Sept. 4 at the Matthaei Complex. The Warriors never trailed in the match, winning 30-21, 30-20 and 30-10.

The Warriors, now 4-1, attacked the ball with confidence all night, committing only 10 errors while totaling 35 kills. Freshman Megan Smolen led the charge with 11 kills and a .429 hitting percentage. The Warriors hit .333 as a team, compared to a (-).031 for the Wolves.

Four other Warriors hit above .400, Sei Hee Hwang, Rebecca Hague, Jeana Wiehl and Allison Jurasek, who went 4-for-5 on the night.

Smolen also served up seven aces, including three straight in the final game. WSU had a combined 13 aces to only one for UMD, who dropped to 4-6 on the season.

Wayne State's next match is at home against Concordia on Wednesday, Sept. 11 at 7 p.m.
