HILLSDALE, Mich. - - Wayne State opened the conference season with a 3-1 (25-30, 30-27, 30-28, 30-21) decision at Hillsdale College's at Jesse Philips Arena on Tuesday, Sept. 17. Wayne State improves to 9-2 overall, 1-0 in the GLIAC, while Hillsdale falls to 10-4, 0-1.
The Chargers took an early one-game lead after winning the first stanza 30-25. HC's Stephanie Johnson paced the first-game attack with five kills and one error in 10 total attacks.
The Warriors would respond by winning the final three games, including a strong 30-21 score in the final contest. WSU sophomore Darcie Amsdill had 14 kills in the first three games when senior Allison Jurasek took over in the final game with six kills. Amsdill finished with a team-high 16 kills, while Jurasek had 15 on the night.
The Warriors continue GLIAC play on Friday, Sept. 20 at Saginaw Valley State.
