The WSU volleyball team ended its 2002 campaign with a 3-0 (30-16, 30-25, 30-25) loss on "Senior Night" to Findlay on Saturday, Nov. 9. After a 10-2 start to the season, the Warriors dropped their last 15 matches to finish 10-17 and 2-15 in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Conference.
In her final match at Wayne State, middle blocker Jaime Banners (Shelby Twp., Mich.) pounded down 10 kills for a .333 hitting percentage. Classmate Allison Jurasek (Clinton, Mich.) had four kills, five digs and three blocks while Kate Jere (Newport, Mich.) had four digs in her Warrior finale.
Rebecca Hague (18 assists) and Cortney Davison (9) split time at setter to total 28 assists on the day.
But the taller Findlay team recorded 17 more kills (50-33) led by two-time GLIAC Player of the Week in Kara Heitmeyer's 11.
The win was Findlay's sixth straight conference victory as they finished the season with a 24-9 record overall and 13-4 in the conference and claimed the GLIAC South Division Title.
