INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Wayne State senior volleyball player Elisa Joris (Walled Lake, Mich.) was listed as the NCAA Division II national leader in blocks per game in the final statistical report of the 2005 season. Joris totaled 168 blocks for a 1.79 per game average and led the Warriors to their first Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference tournament appearance since 1999.

Joris became just the second All-American in school history as she was selected to the 2005 Daktronics All-America Second Team, as well as the AVCA Honorable Mention All-America team. She was also named to the Daktronics and AVCA First Team All-Great Lakes Region squads and earned GLIAC All-Academic and First Team All-GLIAC honors.

The feat marks the second straight season that a WSU volleyball player led the nation in a category. Last year, libero Sei Hee Hwang set a Division II single-season record with 7.08 digs per game.
