BAY CITY, Mich. - Wayne State senior volleyball player Elisa Joris (Walled Lake, Mich.) was named the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference South Division Player of the Week on Monday, Sept. 12. The middle blocker was also selected to the Capital City Classic All-Tournament team for the second straight season.

Joris has helped WSU to an undefeated 8-0 record with four wins over the weekend. She had a career match in the five-game win over Carson-Newman on Sept. 9 with a career-high 28 kills and 13 total blocks (2-11) for a double-double. She also added five digs and two aces and had the game-winning kill in the 17-15 game five against the Eagles.

Joris also had a double-double with 15 kills and 11 digs against Mars Hill to finish the weekend. Over the weekend, she averaged 5.31 kills (69 total) and 1.62 blocks (21 total) per game with a hitting percentage of .421 and eight service aces.

The Warriors open up the GLIAC portion of the schedule as they host Hillsdale College on Tuesday at 7 pm.
