BAY CITY, Mich. - Wayne State University junior Lauren Mallast (Chesterfield, Mich./Anchor Bay) has been named the GLIAC South Division Player of the Week for the second time this season as announced by the conference office Monday afternoon.
Mallast registered 35 kills and a .380 hitting percentage in WSU's three victories last week. Her 10 kills and eight blocks Tuesday versus Northwood aided the Warriors in earning their first GLIAC win of the year. Mallast notched 11 kills and five blocks Friday against Findlay before totaling 14 kills, seven blocks, two aces and a .440 hitting percentage in Saturday's upset over #19 Hillsdale.
Mallast leads the conference in blocking this season (1.51 B/S) and ranks 10th in hitting percentage (.308).
Wayne State will head to Ohio this weekend to face Tiffin on Friday at 7:00 p.m. and Ashland on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
