BAY CITY, Mich. - For the second time in three weeks, Wayne State University senior middle blocker Elisa Joris (Walled Lake, Mich./WL Western) was named GLIAC South Player of the Week, announced the league office on Monday, Sept. 26.
Joris helped the Warriors to a 2-1 record last week with a .320 hitting percentage that included 43 kills. She also totaled 18 blocks in nine games as Joris single-handedly out-blocked both Mercyhurst (6-3) and Gannon (5-2). Against the Golden Knights, she led all players in kills (14), digs (15), and blocks (5) for her fifth double-double of the season.
She currently leads the GLIAC in blocks, averaging 1.92 per game. Joris ranks fourth in the league in kills (4.27 per game), sixth in hitting percentage (.318), and 10th in aces (0.42 per game).
The Warriors (11-3 overall, 2-3 GLIAC) return home this weekend for matches against Saginaw Valley (Sept. 30, 7 pm) and Northwood (Oct. 1, 1 pm).
