The Wayne State University volleyball team will participate in the inaugural Asics GLIAC/GLVC Crossover Tournament this weekend in Indianapolis. The two-day event will feature 25 teams - 13 from the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) and 12 from the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) - competing in 39 matches at Team Indiana and is believed to be the largest collegiate volleyball event in the country.
The Crossover was designed to increase intra-conference competition between teams from the two leagues in the NCAA Division II Midwest Region. It will pit one GLVC team and one GLIAC team in each contest playing on seven courts with three sessions per day. The league coming away from the tournament with the most victories will receive the inaugural traveling trophy.
Wayne State will play twice on Friday, Oct. 17, beginning with an 11:30 a.m. match against #17 Lewis and followed by a 5:30 p.m. showdown with Rockhurst. The Warriors will face Drury on Saturday, Oct. 18, at 10:00 a.m.
General admission tickets for the 2008 Asics GLIAC/GLVC Crossover Tournament will be available on the days of the event at Team Indiana, located at 2570 N. Shadeland Ave. Single-day admission price is $10 for adults and $5 for students. Children five and under will be admitted free.
