DETROIT - The honors continue to roll in for Wayne State senior Elisa Joris. The middle blocker from Walled Lake was named to the Daktronics Great Lakes Region First Team, released Thursday, Nov. 17, and is now on the All-America ballot.

The First Team All-GLIAC selection led the league and ranked second in the nation in blocks at 1.79 per game. Joris was also selected the GLIAC Player of the Week three times throughout the season and had two triple-doubles (20 kills, 10 block, 10 digs at Findlay; 17 kills, 13 blocks, 12 digs vs. Northern Michigan).

Joris also ranked fourth in kills in the conference at 4.22 and had 11 double-doubles in 26 matches while helping the Warriors to their first GLIAC Tournament appearance since 1999.

She was also named to the 2004 Daktronics, Inc. All-Great Lakes Region Second Team and Great Lakes Region Honorable Mention Team by the American Volleyball Coaches Association as a junior. A 2004 GLIAC All-Academic selection, Joris ranks second all-time at Wayne State with a 3.93 kills per game average (two years at WSU).

Other selections to the Daktronics Great Lakes Region first team were senior setter Kecia Jennings (Rockhurst), sophomore outside hitter Gorana Maricic (Northwood), sophomore outside hitter Mary Kate Glowe (Ashland), senior middle hitter Heather Bonde (SIU Edwardsville), senior right side hitter Tracy Kirk (Grand Valley State), and senior libero Sarah Schwandt (Rockhurst). Maricic was named Great Lakes Region Player of the Year and all seven first-team members were also named to either the GLVC or GLIAC First Teams.
