DETROIT - WSU's Elisa Joris (Walled Lake, Mich.) has picked up her second First Team All-Great Lakes Region award, this time from the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA). The middle blocker will now be on the All-America ballot for the AVCA, as well as the Daktronics' ballot.
The First Team All-GLIAC selection led the league and ranked second in the nation in blocks at 1.79 per game. Joris was also selected the GLIAC Player of the Week three times throughout the season and had two triple-doubles (20 kills, 10 block, 10 digs at Findlay; 17 kills, 13 blocks, 12 digs vs. Northern Michigan).
Joris also ranked fourth in kills in the conference at 4.22 and had 11 double-doubles in 26 matches while helping the Warriors to their first GLIAC Tournament appearance since 1999.
She was also named to the 2004 AVCA Honorable Mention team, as well as the Daktronics, Inc. All-Great Lakes Region Second Team as a junior. A 2004 GLIAC All-Academic selection, Joris ranks second all-time at Wayne State with a 3.93 kills per game average (two years at WSU).
