Three Volleyball Student-Athletes Earn League Academic Honor

Three members of the Wayne State University women's volleyball team were named to the 2002 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) All-Academic Team.

Senior Allison Jurasek, junior Rebecca Hague and sophomore Darcie Amsdill were honored by the league office for their work in the classroom.

To qualify for GLIAC All-Academic status a student athlete must have: a cumulative G.P.A. of 3.0 or greater (on a 4.0 scale); must be a starter or key reserve; and must not be a freshman or first-year transfer.

Jurasek, a biology/pre-medicine major from Clinton, Mich., maintains a 3.69 G.P.A. She was second on the squad in hitting percentage (.260) and earned honorable mention All-GLIAC accolades. Jurasek also played in all 99 games.

Hague, a psychology major from Leamington, Ont., has a 3.41 cumulative G.P.A. She led the squad with 968 assists (9.78 assists per game), while playing in all 99 games.

Amsdill, a speech/language pathology major from Dexter, Mich., maintains a 3.50 G.P.A. She ended the season with a .193 hitting percentage, while averaging 2.39 kills per game.
