WSU Runners Place Second At Midwest Collegiates

Kenosha, Wis. - The Wayne State University women's cross country finished second at the 2003 Midwest Collegiates hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Parkside in Kenosha. The Warriors had 82 points and trailed only GLIAC rival Northern Michigan (45 points), the fourth ranked team in Division II. Behind WSU were Calvin College (104 points) and Wisconsin-Oshkosh (111 points).

Senior Amy Averill (Detroit, Mich./Southfield Christian) placed eighth in a time of 18:37, while sophomore Melissa Moncion (Washington, Mich./Romeo) had a time of 18:44 to place 10th.

Also placing for the Warriors were freshmen Jenni Culbertson (Clinton Twp., Mich./Dakota) and Faith Kejbou (Warren, Mich./Fitzgerald) and junior Renee Moncion (Washington, Mich./Romeo). Culbertson was 18th in a time of 18:58, while Kejbou ran a 19:01 to place 20th. Moncion was 26th in a time of 19:12.

WSU will run in the September 27th Greater Louisville Classic in Louisville, Ky.
