BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Wayne State women's cross country team finished in 32nd place at the Paul Short Invitational, hosted by Lehigh University, on Saturday.
Wayne State's team score of 829 bested 15 other schools in the 6k race, and was two points shy of 31st-place Colgate.
Freshman Rachelle Malette (Windsor, Ont./Holy Names) was the top finishing Warrior among the 310 participants, placing 80th with a time of 22:05.0. Junior Jenni Culbertson (Clinton Twp., Mich./Dakota) finished in 102nd place in 22:18.5.
Senior Melissa Moncion (Washington, Mich./Romeo) posted a time of 22:25.3 for 115th place, junior Leah Steinke (Windsor, Ont./Kennedy Collegiate Institute) ran in 245th place with a time of 23:48.8, and freshman Laura Friedman (Canton, Mich./Plymouth Salem) finished 287th in 24:42.5.
The Warriors will move on to the Michigan Intercollegiate at the Oakland University Golf Course on Friday, Oct. 7.
