Women's Cross Country Finishes Fourth At Michigan Intercollegiates

Hudsonville, Mich. - The Wayne State University women's cross country team finished fourth out of 15 teams at the 2003 Michigan Intercollegiate Championships held at Rolling Hills Golf Course in Hudsonville, Mich.

Senior Amy Averill (Detroit, Mich./Southfield Christian) was WSU's top runner placing ninth in a time of 22:34. Freshman Jenni Culbertson (Clinton Twp., Mich./Dakota) was 16th (22:58), while sophomore Melissa Moncion (Washington, Mich./Romeo) was 25th (23:22). Also scoring for the Warriors were freshman Faith Kejbou (Warren, Mich./Fitzgerald) and senior Ruth Minnick (Sterling Heights, Mich./Stevenson/Siena Heights).

"I thought our women raced tough and ran well today," said head coach Rick Cummins.
