Six members of the 2003 Wayne State University women's cross country team were named to the GLIAC All-Academic team. The Warriors were third at the league championship, fourth at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional and tied-for-16th at the NCAA Championship.
To be eligible for GLIAC All-Academic status a student athlete must have: a cumulative G.P.A. of 3.0 or greater (on a 4.0 scale); must be a starter or key reserve; and must not be a freshman or first-year transfer.
Selected to the GLIAC All-Academic team were seniors Amy Averill (Detroit, Mich./Southfield Christian), Rachel Campbell (Sterling Hts., Mich./Stevenson) and Ruth Minnick (Sterling Hts., Mich./Stevenson), junior Renee Moncion (Washington, Mich./Romeo) and sophomores Melissa Moncion (Washington, Mich./Romeo) and Stephanie Sayler (Romeo, Mich.).
Averill was honored for the third time, while Campbell was selected for the second time.
Minnick was a first-time honoree after transferring from Siena Heights and Renee Moncion was also a first-time selection. Melissa Moncion and Sayler were eligible for the first time this season.
