Los Angeles - Members of the Wayne State University women's cross country team competed in the 2005 Occidental College Distance Carnival on Friday, March 18, in Los Angeles, Calif.

Participating in the women's 5000m race were junior Melissa Moncion (6th, 18:12.93) and sophomore Leah Steinke (7th, 18:26.64). The Warrior duo finished behind runners from the University of Hawaii, Yale (two), Loyola Marmount and Team Run LA.

Freshman Kara Kessler was 19th in the 5000m race in a time of 19:53.77.

Another member of the squad, sophomore Jenni Culbertson, ran in the "Mixed 10,000m race." Culbertson was 22nd (including males) with a time of 36:23.4.
